Services
Surgery: Here at Hayden Pet Medical Center we offer routine,
corrective, elective and emergency surgical procedures. These procedures
include, but are not limited to; spays, neuters, cesareans, entropions,
ear ablations, tumor removals, gastrointestinal surgeries, fractured
bone repair, endoscopy, ear cropping and feline declaws.
Each pet receives a pre-anesthesia exam by our
doctors. During this examination the medical team
records each pet's vital signs, our doctors check
for any medical abnormalities and identify any
additional concerns prior to surgery.
Each pet is monitored visibly and with monitoring equipment. The
exact anesthesia selected for use during surgery is determined by
the doctor based on blood work, age, physical condition of the pet
and type of surgery.
As a pet owner you need to know that there is risk involved with
anesthesia just like there is with humans. In order to conduct an
anesthesia-assisted procedure in the safest way possible, our doctors
strongly recommend preoperative blood work. This testing will provide
vital information to the doctors regarding enzyme and chemical balances
and the condition of internal organs that will be effected by the
anesthesia.
Pets are monitored during recovery and most
surgery patients are kept overnight for their well
being.
Radiology: We are one of the elite
veterinary hospitals in the area with the ability
to aquire digital radigraphs. Our digital
radiology machine is one of the most advanced
in the industry. We can perform most radiology
studies short of MRIs.
Ultrasound: Diagnostic ultrasound is performed
by our doctors with a state of the art computerized
ultrasound machine. Diagnosies and biopsies are
obtained without invasive surgery.
Endoscopy: Fiberoptic endoscopy is
available to diagnose respiratory and
gastrointestinal problems as well as take biopsies.
We are also able to remove some foreign bodies
without the need for more invasive surgery.
Laboratory: We perform pre-operative as well as comprehensive
blood tests on site which means we are able to have results before your
appointment is over. Tests such as blood glucose, urine analysis, fecal analysis,
and heart worm are all done within minutes.
We also have in-house tests for feline leukemia
and feline immune virus as well as parvovirus screening.
We work with a local laboratory for more
extensive diagnostic panels with about a 4 hour
turn around for most tests.
Pharmacy: We have a full stock of the
most commonly used as well as the new innovative
drugs and are able to fill your prescriptions
before you leave your appointment. Our doctors are
very up to date and well versed on all prescription
protocols.
Dentistry: During your pets annual
wellness visit our doctors check their mouth, teeth
and gums.
They may recommend a dental procedure which
includes an ultra sonic scaling, prophy polishing
and complete charting. Oravet teeth sealants are
also offered.
Extractions, root planing, and dental x-rays are
available with client consent. Dental x-rays are
provided by the latest Digital x-ray machine. It uses
1/10 the radiation of standard machines.
Avian/exotic medicine: Birds, reptiles, ferrets, rabbits,
guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, chinchillas and hedge hogs
are all seen by our doctors.
We offer vaccines, diagnostics, environment and nutrition counseling.
As well as nail, beak and teeth trimming according to specific species.
Allergy Testing: We have many clients
each year who have become concerned over constant
scratching, hot spots that appear for no apparent
reason or reactions to foods.
Since no pet has an identical genetic makeup it
is important to do proper diagnostic testing to
determine if these symptoms may be caused by some
type of allergy.
If a specific allergy is diagnosed by our
veterinarians your pet can then be treated with
special diet or allergy injections.
Specialized Diets: We offer a wide
variety of diets specifically designed for pets
with special medical conditions. These diets are
formulated by Hill's Science Diet, Purina and
Innovative Veterinary Diet (IVD).
If your veterinarian prescribes one of these
diets it's to enhance the medical treatment that is
required for your pet's medical need.
Pet Identification: Because your pet is
such an important member of your family, we offer
microchipping and tattooing as permanent forms of
identifying your pet.
Microchipping can be done at anytime, it
involves implanting a microchip small enough to go
through a hypodermic needle.
It is implanted under the skin, usually in the
scruff area, and is read by a scanner.
The number on the chip is unique to your pet and
registered nation wide.
A toll free number is called and the owner
information you provide is given to the person or
facility that has your pet so you can be
reunited.
Tattooing is done under anesthesia and is a way
of marking your pet with a name or number for
identification.
We also offer pet ID cards. They are the size to
fit in your pocket or wallet, it contains a photo
of your pet as well as vaccine, health, pet and
owner information.
The vaccine information is a valid vaccine certificate, so they
are perfect for the pet who travels.
Euthanasia & Cremation: We may all, at some point, have to face
that "hardest of all decisions" with our pets - euthanasia.
Euthanasia is a peaceful ending of life. We welcome owners who choose
to stay with their pets during the procedure, but also understand when
owners prefer not to.
We will prepare your pet for an at home burial if you choose or we offer
two cremation options. Mass cremation is done with other pets and no ashes are
returned. With private cremation your pet is cremated by itself and we return the
ashes to you as a cherished memory of your pet.
When the time comes, we will be glad to assist with the necessary
arrangements.
